The recent decline in Canadian manufacturing output and employment has been well documented. Yet Canada continues to have a number of internationally successful firms. In this project, we use a case-study approach to understand the strategies of nine leading companies. In addition, we ask the firms to look across the jurisdictions in which they operate to identify best practice public policy in support of manufacturing. Three concrete actions to support the growth of the next generation of internationally successful firms are proposed.
