A Different Approach to Teaching Problem Solving: de Bono's Six Thinking Hats
Critical thinker and problem solver are two attributes most post secondary institutions claim to value in preparing students for the world beyond the university or college classroom. Recent research into critical thinking, however, shows that most faculty struggle to define critical thinking and problem solving, and more importantly, how to teach it.
Although not a new concept, de Bonos Six Thinking Hats framework is presented as a very practical way to invite students to look at problems from different angles and to consider alternative perspectives, leading to creative and innovative solutions.
