NatureNL Public Lecture: The Rare Birds of Newfoundland: Ten Years Later by Ken Knowles

Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
SN-2067

Since the 2003 Checklist, a surprising 28 new bird species have appeared in Newfoundland. As well, many ultra-rare species have made a re-appearance after decades of absence, and some formerly rare species have now become annual. This presentation will update the changes to the list and show documenting photographs of as many of the new species as possible. A feeble attempt will be made to understand vagrancy in Newfoundland rarities. The presentation will end with Ken's personal list of the 6 all-time rarest birds in the province's history.
