Memorial Universitys Faculty of Medicine is hosting a public exhibition of Professor of Anatomy Dr. Shakti Chandras magnificent collection of anatomical specimens created for teaching.
Dr. Chandra spent a one year sabbatical in Germany with Dr. Gunther von Hagens, inventor of the unique plastination technique and creator of the Body Worlds exhibition. It was there that she worked on intricate dissections and this collection is a part of that work.
The exhibition is an opportunity for visitors to view real bones and organs and appreciate the connectedness of the human body. There will also be stations featuring artificial joints, healthy and damaged lungs, a heart with a coronary bypass, a cirrhotic liver and whole bodies on display.
