This year's CAA public session focuses on the cultural importance, historical development and archaeological evidence of the consumption of an important beverage: beer. Dr. Patrick McGovern, a biomolecular archaeologist at the University of Pennsylvania's Museum studies the composition and reconstruction of ancient brewing techniques. Mr. Liam McKenna, brewmaster at Yellowbelly Brewery, will talk about the cultural importance of beer and it's historical development. Mr. Stephen Mills, a consulting archaeologist, will discuss the archeaology of drinking and taverns in 17th-century Newfoundland.
