Alpine Trough Gardening Workshop

Saturday, May 23, 2015, 09:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
MUN Botanical Garden, 306 Mount Scio Road, St. John's

Instructor: Tim Walsh, MUNBG Nursery Manager.

The Newfoundland climate is very well suited for alpine plants and many gardeners have constructed some fine rock garden examples with large boulders on sloped terrains. But not all alpines need the hard work and space needed to grow these remarkable plants. In this three hour class, Tim will help you construct an alpine trough, plus teach you the correct soil, site and plant selection to adorn your creation. These “mini-rock gardens” make perfect garden features and come out large on the smallest deck or the grandest patio.

Workshop Format: Hands-on (everyone will create and take home an alpine trough). All materials (except gloves) will be provided. Plant material will be for sale for those who wish to add plants to their trough.

Fee: $70 public / $60 FOG
Pre-registration required. Maximum Enrolment: 10 people.
