Science Literacy Week - Dark Energy? Who Saw That Coming?
Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
C-2045
Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography
Dr. Mike Morrow, Dr. Ivan Booth, Dr. John Lewis, and Mr. Christopher Stephenson, all with the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography, will present a (mostly) non-mathematical description of how velocity and distance measurements for remote galaxies show that the universe is expanding and will consider some of the questions arising from that expansion.
This will be followed by a description of how evidence for accelerated expansion and dark energy has emerged from more recent observations.
Program is free and registration is not required. Everyone is welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
