Sheltered, secure bike lockers for rent

Aug. 14, 2014

Five bike lockers now available to full-time students, staff and faculty to rent this fall.

The bike lockers, located outdoors between the Biotechnology and Chemistry buildings on the St. John’s campus, are available for students, staff and faculty to rent starting this fall.

Graduate student Yuri Gidge received funding from The Co-operators Foundation - IMPACT! Fund to help purchase the lockers. The program is being administered by the Sustainability Office.

“The bicycle lockers are a great addition to Memorial," said Sheldon Huelin, a laboratory instructor and an avid year-round cyclist. "Our campus is located in one of the wettest environments in Canada and providing protection will hopefully get even more people interested in bike-commuting."

Current students, staff and faculty are eligible to apply. There is a rental cost for each semester and a key deposit is required. The deadline for applications for the fall 2014 semester is Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Lockers will be allocated through a lottery and successful applicants will be notified on Aug. 29.

Renters will be required to sign an agreement, and pay the rental fee and deposit during the first week of September.
