Student leadership conference to take place

Jan. 27, 2015

Living Leadership, Memorial’s annual Student Leadership Conference (MSLC), will take place on the St. John's campus on Saturday, Feb. 7.

This one-day conference is filled with opportunities for students to connect and network, as well as learn from some of the top university and community leaders.

Kevin Casey of the Idea Factory will present the keynote address and Terry Hussey of Vigilant Management and the 2014 recipient of the President’s Award for Outstanding Teaching Award will provide a plenary session. Several other speakers will present throughout the day.

The main audience of the conference is, as always, Memorial University students. Each year the event welcomes approximately 80 students, many of whom are new to leadership programs.

For Maggie McGuire, a fifth-year student, it will be her first experience with the conference.

"I am incredibly eager to attend,” she said. “It's exciting to learn from so many different leaders from extremely different backgrounds. I love that MSLC presents the opportunity for students to acquire leadership skills through engaging with like-minded students and professionals."

Grade 12 students in the metro region are being invited to attend the conference as a way to start connecting them with Memorial, the university experience and the opportunities waiting for them once they arrive on campus as students.

For community and university members who become involved, MSLC provides a unique opportunity to connect with and give back to the student leadership community at Memorial.
