Update on water quality on St. John's campus, Tuesday, Aug. 11

Aug. 11, 2015

Water restrictions have been lifted in seven additional buildings today:

  • Bowater House
  • C-Core
  • Doyle House
  • Facilities Management
  • Medical Education Centre
  • Science
  • Utilities Annex

Staff are removing old signage from these buildings and replacing it with new signage to indicate the change in status. They will also be relocating the bottled water supplies in these buildings to other locations that are still on a bottled water supply.

Additional tests are also being conducted at the first point where water is available for consumption in buildings that had higher than acceptable levels of lead at the entry point (mechanical rooms). Some of those results are back, and in two instances – Biotechnology and the QEII Library – higher than acceptable levels were found. Further investigation and testing will be required before consumption restrictions for those buildings are changed.

As information is available, it will be shared with the university community via Newsline, social media and www.mun.ca.
