New scholarship for business
Undergraduate business students with an interest in accounting have a new scholarship opportunity, thanks to a generous endowment from the Public Accountants Licensing Board.
The gift, valued at $25,000, will create a $1,000 scholarship for students in their final year who are of scholarship standing and who demonstrate an interest in pursuing public accountancy as a profession. The first award will be given during the 2007-08 academic year.
The Public Accountants Licensing Board was established in 1967 to oversee the regulation of public accountancy within the province. To date the board has had three chairs, James Halley, Charles White, and Alex Faseruk.
In addition to chairing the Public Accountants Licensing Board, Mr. White also served as the chair of the Board of Regents for Memorial University. Dr. Alex Faseruk, professor in the Faculty of Business Administration, has been chair of the board since 1996.
