Conflict resolution program offered

By Janet Harron | June 17, 2008

The effects of conflict in the workplace can be widespread and costly. These effects can include decreased productivity, increased employee stress, high turnover rates and absenteeism. In many cases these conflicts can require the application of specific skills, perspective and methodology to bring about lasting change.

To address the issue in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Faculty of Arts at Memorial University, in partnership with the Division of Lifelong Learning, is offering a program in conflict resolution.

The series consists of a two-part, multi-themed program, leading to certificates in conflict studies (Week 1 – Sept. 29 to October 3) and Interest-based negotiations (Week 2 – Oct. 20 to 24).

The program features facilitators and trainers Stacey Holloway and Dale Zaiser of the Holloway Zaiser Group, an association of consultants that focuses on assisting people and organizations as they create and navigate change (www.hollowayzaiser.com).

The fee for each certificate course is $1,949 + GST. The deadline for registration is 4:30 p.m., Thursday July 31, 2008. For further information see www.mun.ca/arts/alumni/conflict/index.php or contact Lifelong Learning on 709-737-7979.
