MUNMed's Relay for Life team, named MUN Medicine Lemon-aids, raised $6,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society and took home two awards for the event.

This year’s event took place Saturday, Jan. 28, from 7 p.m.-7 a.m. at Memorial's Field House. MUN medicine’s team slogan was Working Together to E-lemon-ate Cancer. Creative costumes and fun puns were a major highlight at the event and the team had a lemonade stand which sold more than 600 cups of lemonade throughout the night.

MUN medicine took home two of the three awards given for that night including the main award, Most Fundraised Team. In recognition, MUN medicine will be inscribed on Relay for Life’s plaque, highlighting the Faculty of Medicine’s support and involvement in cancer-related advocacy.

Participants in the MUN medicine Lemon-aids were medical students William Stokes, Alison Pittman, Ashley Martin, Lisa Harvey, Maria Brazil, Megan Dawe, Paula Cooper, Becky Lethbridge, Melissa George, Rana Saunders and Catherine Winsor.
