Memorial University has taken the precautionary measure of temporarily closing the Reid Theatre in the Arts and Administration Building.

Memorial’s Department of Health and Safety advised there could be asbestos-containing materials in the space above the theatre stage that is accessible via the ladders/catwalk system. 

Samples have been collected from the area for testing and the theatre closed until further notice.

The test results will determine when the Reid Theatre will re-open.

The Reid Theatre is operated by the Department of English Language and Literature under the direction of the Dean of Arts Office.
