70 years of support

Members of the St. John’s Club of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) were on the St. John’s campus on May 19 to present its 70th and most historic donation to Memorial. The group delivered a cheque for $20,000 — the most it has presented to the university in a single gift. The money was raised during the club’s annual giant book sale, which took place in April and saw more than 40,000 books donated. The donation will fund 18 bursaries and scholarships for female students (both graduate and undergraduate) at Memorial and the Marine Institute.
