Last year, Dr. Robert Scott, professor of sustainable resource management and director of Bonne Bay Marine Station, and his students removed a sperm whale skeleton from the beach north of Rocky Harbour. The whale has been in Grenfell Campus’s compost pile since then. Recently, a group of students from the Marine Mammals course at the marine station removed the bones from the compost pile to clean them up.
